Allura Art is operated by Allura, a multi-award-winning arts organisation based on the European island of Malta. Allura aims to meet and exceed the expectations of local and international art-lovers seeking high quality, affordable art.
In an ever-evolving global marketplace, Allura understands that art-lovers are no longer interested purely in the finished artwork, but also in the artists themselves and the stories behind their work. For this reason, Allura endeavours to create meaningful and engaging connections between artists and buyers through studio visits, interviews and painting sessions.
Awards
Allura has won a series of awards for its innovative approach to bringing the Arts to a wider audience. These include a Medal for Creativity from the World Intellectual Property Organisation, first prize for creative innovation in the Malta Intellectual Property Awards 2019, runner up prize in the Malta Innovation Awards 2017, shortlisting as a finalist in the Innovation category of the Arts Council Malta’s national arts awards in 2020, a finalist once again in 2023 in the category of Best Innovative and Creative Enterprise and a place in the finals of the Social Impact Awards Malta.
Our work
Alongside Allura Art, Allura’s other activities include a range of arts events and exhibitions, most notably The Trail, a festival-style experience, showcasing artists in pop-up ‘open studios’ to the visiting public.
The Allura Team
Who we are
The Allura team is currently made up of Laura Swale and Bernadett Mozer.
Laura Swale
Laura Swale is a visual artist and art writer from the UK with a background in art education and leadership, cultural event planning, gallery and curatorial work.
After studying art at Bath Spa University in the UK, Laura graduated with a B.A. Hons and began her career working for a gallery. She then spent 15 years as an art teacher and department leader in UK and international schools and two years as an artist in residence, before relocating to Malta and establishing Allura. The company has been recognised for its innovative work in the arts sector, with a number of awards and nominations for its projects and events.
Laura has been a contributing arts and cultural writer for the Times of Malta and Malta Independent national newspapers. She is on the judging panel of the annual Sovereign Student Art Prize and has been involved with judging and selection on a range of other art competitions and events.
Bernadett Mozer
Bernadett left her native Hungary in 2004 and spent many years living and working in a range of multicultural settings in the UK, Ireland, China and Myanmar, before settling in Malta and joining the Allura team in 2020.
A keen photographer, Betty documented these travels in her vibrant Instagram portfolio.
Prior to Allura, and following a long and successful international teaching career, Bernadett, or Betty, as she is also known, made the transition into cultural management. The historic Moholy-Nagy University of Visual Arts in Budapest, where she pursued her post-graduate studies, is recognised as one of the most prominent European institutions of visual culture. On graduating she took a role at Art Quarter Budapest, a leading creative and cultural centre with art studios and an in-house residency programme.
Strengthened by the knowledge and expertise Bernadett has brought to the team, Allura has seen the successful launch of Allura Art, the Allura Open Art Studios Programme and Allura’s various other art-related events. Her role involves PR, marketing, social media strategy, event-planning, market research, web-management, SEO, administration, photography and videography.
