About series one
In series one of Artist Secrets, Allura joins prominent local artists in their studios and at stunning Maltese and Gozitan locations as they capture distinctive and beloved national landmarks and scenes. Each episode begins with a blank canvas and follows the making of a new and previously unseen piece of original art as it is brought to life.
Allura’s signature ‘open studio’ format is all about shifting the emphasis from finished paintings to the process of making them. By going behind the scenes, Allura endeavours to create meaningful and engaging connections between artists and art lovers.
The Artists
In this series and with the broader Allura Art collection, Allura works to identify the collectible artists of the future, while promoting and sharing the work of these reputable local painters, in all its character and diversity.
The series follows three of the artists featured in the Allura Art gallery, with a further special episode which spotlights a gifted local art student, Paraskovia Podorvana, who recently won the prestigious Sovereign Student Global Art Prize.
The three visual artists from Allura Art are Gozitan expressionist Christopher Saliba, the versatile and inimitable Mark Schembri, and passionate plein-air painter Debbie Bonello, fresh from her recent sell-out solo show.
The series is produced by Allura. The Artists Secrets series is part of the Allura Open Art Studios Programme, which is supported by Arts Council Malta through the Programme Support Scheme. It is also supported by the Sovereign Art Foundation, The Melita Foundation and Attard and Co. Art materials featured are by Royal Talens.
