New paintings at Allura Art
New artwork hot off the easel!
Allura artists are chosen for the quality of their work, so what makes them stand out?
Building an exciting, evolving portfolio requires regular practice. Because consistency is the pre-requisite for artistic development, artists who join Allura Art also need to be practising artists, dedicated to their craft and to continuous personal growth.
We are proud to be working with such a committed group of artists, and in this blog post we share the fruits of their labours with a taster of the new original pieces recently selected for the Allura Art collection.

In Beautiful Mdina, artist Vania Goshe presents the iconic hilltop view of Mdina, Malta’s former capital city, captured in sunny, uplifting pastel hues and the luscious, painterly textures the artist has come to be recognised for.
Vania Goshe also painted Mdina for an episode of the second series of Allura’s Artist Secrets.

In an altogether different style, the same location, Mdina, is painted once more by another of Allura’s artists: Christopher Saliba.
Mdina 2023 is another unique depiction of Malta’s medieval hilltop capital city. The artist combines careful observation of the structure of Mdina’s famous citadel, with chromatic balance, through subtle use of complementary colours.
Christopher Saliba featured in Allura’s first series of Artist Secrets. Christopher’s episode was filmed at his studio in Gozo, where he created a new painting on camera to demonstrate how he applies the complementary colour palette which so striking characterises his work.
Citta Vittoriosa by Kevin Sciberras is a depiction of one of the artist’s favourite scenes: the old fortified city of Vittoriosa on the south side of Malta’s Grand Harbour.
The semi-abstract style, expressive brushstrokes and the balance between warm and cool colours which characterise this piece are typical of the artist’s loose signature style.
Citta Vittoriosa was painted during the second series of Artist Secrets. In episode 5, artist Kevin created the painting to demonstrate his acrylic glazing techniques. To watch it being painted, click here.
Gozo Landscape by artist Natasha Dadush was painted from the vantage point of the Tal Fanal village in Ghasri. It depicts the country road meandering through the rolling fields of Gozo, leading the viewer’s eye towards the distant hill-top view of the Victoria Cittadella and the Ta' Ċenċ Cliffs.
Natasha Dadush is well-known for her plein-air paintings of local scenes. In Allura’s second series of Artist Secrets she demonstrates her painting process from start to finish.
In Episode 3 - Gouache, Natasha re-created one of her plein-air paintings on camera using gouache paints. To watch, click here.

Mixed media piece Ali di Carta by Rosette Bonello represents the relationship between two people.
Often concealing figures and scenes, Rosette Bonello’s compositions are sensitive, instinctive and emotional responses to her experiences in life. They are often rendered in delicate textures and elegant metallics.
“The gold in my work represents the most precious essence of my subjects” she explains, “their soul.”
In Sprouts of Time, artist Bogdan Dyulgerov conveys the movement of time, from the past through the present and into the future. He explores where the past begins and ends, and where the future begins, or if it even exists. If everything happens in the moment, are the past and the future merely mental concepts, memories or expectations? Time may only be real here and now, sprouting in this very moment. For the artist, the role of abstract art is to explore the questions rather than give the answers.
