View from Ta' Ċenċ, Gozo by Christopher Saliba is a subtle monochrome rendering of the expansive Gozitan scenery, as seen from Ta' Ċenċ on Gozo’s southern coastline, looking northwards and inland over the island’s undulating hills.

Grounded in deep honey yellow and layered with rippling rusts, Christopher Saliba’s canvas emanates the heat and luminance of the smouldering Gozitan landscape, bathed in warm evening sun.

With its towering cliffs and distinctive rectangular silhouette, the tiny islet of Filfla, just off the south-west coast of Malta, is a familiar and unmistakeable sight.

To protect its population of rare seabirds, the uninhabited limestone plateau was dedicated a nature reserve in 1980.

Only visits of an educational or scientific nature are permitted, but those wishing to study its rare breeds can expect to encounter the yellow-legged gull, Cory’s shearwater and European storm petrel.

This atmospheric depiction of Filfla was painted on location during a summer sunset from Ghar Lapsi on the southern coastline. The artist captures the momentary and evolving colours in this impressionistic piece.

Stretching for several kilometres and rising 200 metres above sea-level, the dramatic Dingli cliffs form a monumental perimeter to the Maltese mainland as it drops precipitously into the sea.

The artist contrasts the rugged surface of the cliff-top and face, with soft fluid blues in the waters below.
