Salvator Mundi is a Latin title, meaning ‘Saviour of the World’. A painting of the same name was recently attributed to the High-Renaissance painter Leonardo da Vinci. Salvator Mundi by Mark Schembri was intended by the artist to show Jesus Christ as a “conqueror over malevolence.” Beneath the feet of Christ are evil spirits, writhing in panic and desperation, ghostly and insubstantial in comparison to the strength and solidity of Christ, who radiates a power and presence which dominates the scene.
