New paintings for every taste
The Allura artists have been busy as usual. In this latest post from the Allura Art blog we feature some of the most recent paintings to arrive in the Allura Art Collection, as well as the artists who made them.
This mini-selection gives an idea of the variety of genres and styles of art available on the Allura Art website, all of which is original and for sale at studio prices.
The artists featured this time around are Dagmara Zaczeniuk, Rosette Bonello, Andrew Smith and Vania Goshe.
A Polish mother once gave her two year-old daughter a pen, kindling in her a life-long love of art.
“Creativity is stronger than me.” says Malta-based artist Dagmara Zaczeniuk,
“I can’t stop painting. If I ever do I’ll be unhappy."
Speaking of her painting Medallion, Dagmara says “We are linked to the past - to those who came before us. We all go back seven generations in our genetic code. None of us is an island.”
“We are on this earth only for a while, so let us make our lives beautiful. Let’s look at things and other beings carefully.”

Born and bred in Marsaskala, Rosette Bonello’s practice evolved symbiotically with her kindergarten teaching career. Witnessing the children’s uninhibited creativity led her to value self-expression and the pleasure of making over societal expectations of art.
Rosette’s painting Symbiosis represents symbiotic relationships.
“We are all a part of a life cycle… “ she says, “a journey together with relationships that are both seen and unseen.”

Since relocating in 2004 from Yorkshire in the UK to Malta, Andrew Smith has become a keen watercolourist and prolific plein-air (open-air) painter. His dedication to capturing the natural landscape has resulted in beautifully rendered interpretations of the Maltese and Gozitan scenery he so loves and admires.
In his piece Luqa, Feast of St Andrews, Andrew captures the lively and vibrant scene in Luqa during feast time. This colourful watercolour shows the Maltese custom of decorating the streets with colourful lights for festivals.

Local artist Vania Goshe left her native Bulgaria when she fell in love, relocating to Malta, where she now lives with her husband and daughter.
“Malta made me an artist,” she says fondly, citing the sunlight and scenery as her primary inspiration.
In her paintings Vania enjoys depicting Malta’s scenery and traditions.
“A luzzu is a traditional fishing boat from the Maltese islands” she says, “the eyes painted on the side of the luzzu are symbols of good health and said to protect fishermen from any harm when they are out at sea.”
In Somewhere in Malta the primary colours of the Maltese luzzus are vividly depicted with the artist’s preferred ‘impasto’ technique. Impasto refers to paint applied thickly, often with a palette knife instead of a brush.
