Christine Porter Lofaro
Christine Porter Lofaro is recognised by the International Guild of Realism as one of the most accomplished artists currently working in the style of Realism. Her prize-winning work (Negroni 100 Art Competition 2019) is executed primarily in oils. "There is something about its luscious texture, forgiving yet defying qualities, and slow-drying nature, that I really enjoy."
Inspired by contemporary painters such as Alyssa Monks, Ali Cavanaugh, Nick Alm and Elisa Anfuso, she has exhibited in numerous shows over the past ten years.Dr Porter Lofaro is also an academic professional specialising in the field of visual arts. She lectures in the Department of Digital Arts at the University of Malta and has 16 years of experience teaching art. Her published pieces on studio practice include The Impact of Studio Space on Creativity and its Implications for Artistic Practice
From an early age Porter Lofaro attended the Malta School of Art and the Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce in Valletta, and was tutored personally by renowned artist Harry Alden, recipient of Malta Society of Arts' Gold Medal and former student of artist Bridget Riley. Porter Lofaro’s honours degree was in Art and her master’s degree in Creativity and Innovation.
